The film lovers…….
“LIMELIGHT IS SOMETHING THAT SHINES ONLY AFTER A LONG JOURNEY THROUGH DARKNESS, SO JUST MOVE ON!!!”
Hai, I am Jibu Jacob, now known as a director who is alike others in the film field that attained the limelight after lots & lots of struggle. You may identify me as the director of the film “Vellimoonga” which had made a mark in the list of good films in the recent time. I am a simple man from the land of Njarackal, Vypin, Kochi where my dreams about colours, visuals and reels was shaped.
I regard Salu George as my master who taught me the essence of film making. He always motivated me by saying “Cinema won’t come in search of us; we are the one who has to search for cinema”. And that was my force to move all this long way.
My doorway to this big world of films was in 1992 as an Asst. camera man for the film “Ayushkaalam”. And it took 10 years for me to be an independent cinematographer for the film named Stop Violence directed by A K Sajan. This happened to me after working for about 40 films as an associate and assistant cameraman.
After “Stop Violence” I worked for many films like ‘Deepangal Sakshi’, ‘Boy Friend’, ‘Thaskaraveeran’, ‘Raashtram’, ‘Oruvan’, ‘Pranayakalam’ etc……etc and the last was “Barya Athra pora”. And my debut movie as a director was “Vellimoonga” which was on screen after an immense war between circumstances and passion. And I’m glad that somehow I had made it a success. All I have is the trust in my talent and believe that it will be better and the best ahead.
I make out that I have just seen a ray of sunlight and I have more to look at; if and only if your well wishes, support and concern are there for me.
